Rain, Rain, Kiss me Arse

For a few glorious days here in Spain this past weekend it was warm and sunny and beautiful and I was happy. Alas, Barcelona is back to being a cold and rainy puta, while my peeps back in Boston are sunbathing. I wouldn't mind it so much if I had this sweater by Sirena Con Jersey to snuggle up in.

In My Craft or Sullen Art

...Not for the proud man apart
From the raging Moon I write
On these spindrift pages
Nor the towering dead
With their nightingales and psalms
But for the lovers, their arms
Round the grief of the ages
Who pay no praise or wages
Nor heed my craft or art

Outstanding in the Field

"Outstanding in the Field is a roving culinary adventure – literally a restaurant without walls. Since 1999 we have set the long table at farms or gardens, on mountain tops or in sea caves, on islands or at ranches. Occasionally the table is set indoors: a beautiful refurbished barn, a cool greenhouse or a stately museum. Wherever the location, the consistent theme of each dinner is to honor the people whose good work brings nourishment to the table."

I love this idea so much. Since I can't afford the $180 ticket to one of these events, I think this summer I'm gonna host my own. There really is nothing better than eating fresh food (and drinking wine) out in the warm summer air with friends.

His Final Bow.

"Mr. McQueen’s soul was as a deep and powerful as an ocean but his reserves of happiness were always drying up."

Felices Pascuas

It doesn't really feel like Easter without baskets and eggs and fake grass and chocolate bunnies and ham and mass and peeps and family.

Drops in the River.

I just posted a video, but ehhhhh fuck it. I've had a bit of sangria tonight and I want to share one of my favorite songs of all time. OF ALL TIME.

Most important criteria for me to like a song: it has to have a sense of yearning.

And the Boys.

While I must admit I dont really like the video (although the landscape shots are nice), this song has been on repeat in my mind for the past couple of days. If you're not familiar, Angus and Julia Stone are a brother-sister act out of Australia with a sweet, laid-back sound. Plus, the cover of their latest album is pretty rad:

Jokes.

85.

No one can know what a life whittles down to in the end, but the long procession of days probably doesn’t boil down to a single moment. But what about as long as we can hold our breath? Or the ten minute walk from your street to mine? Or a stretch of hours lying in a field tasting the onion grass from each others’ skin? Or a single night beneath the junebugs swimming through the black summer sky and your apple breasts bobbing in the dark water? Or a perfect week or month or year? We cannot know what will hold the meaning in the end.

But my guess is that those handful of days with you are the pit inside of the fruit and flesh of my receding youth and all the years to come. And no matter who you become or where you go or what you do or who you are with, you are where I will make my home. I have a shovel and ax and I’ll build it with whatever I can find, be it ink or wood or air, and afterwards I’ll lie in our green yard and drink tall glasses of cold water and guess the season by the tastes on the wind. And in the end if your life boils down to those same moments—when we both felt stuffed with cotton picked from the same golden field  beneath a wide open sky—then you know where I will be

Dear Christ I think I'm in love.

Cream of the Crop.

Ok so I know its about three months too late to be posting a "Best of '09" list, but hey, I never said I was punctual. I just came across this list by The Hype Machine of the top 50 musical acts of 2009 based on how many times their songs were posted. For the countdown, artists were brought in and created pieces inspired by each band. I picked out some highlights:

The Greatest.

I guess I'm in a sappy mood, but this trailer makes me so sad.

I've also been listening to the song at the end on repeat. I'ts called where the road meets the sun by Matthew Perryman Jones

Tumblr

Sometimes, I think about starting a tumblr so I could be one of those cool girls who post cool pictures of people running through fields and beautiful twinkling lights and meadows in the morning. Sometimes I wish I could just tell the world what I was feeling through an anonymous rant (usually via a simple "fuck off" or "good morning, heartache"). Then I have another sip of sangria, and move on to thinking about another thing I wish I was doing.

Chat Roulette.

Chat Roulette is a phenomenon that has occurred since I've been abroad. When my sisters first told me about it, I thought they were plum crazy. I've only been able to try it for 5 seconds, given my extreme social awkwardness. Its a pretty big deal though (it was even on the daily show!) and I think this video does a great job summing it up:

No.

Barcelona is not supposed to look like this.

Gafas del Sol

I've been wearing tortoise-shell wayfarer knockoffs since I was in high school, and I'm starting to think its time for a change. I hopped on over to etsy, and I'm thinking my next pair of sunglasses are going to be a vintage pair a la my childhood heroine, Winnie from the Wonder Years.

The Eternal City

I finally uploaded my pictures (all 300 of them) from my trip to Rome this weekend. These were a few of my favorites. While I love my camera (it has been through a lot with me), its creeping up on four years old now and just cant perform like cameras on the market today. Sigh.
