Well dolls, today is Valentines day, and in the spirit of this hallowed occasion, I shall share with you some sites on the web that are all about the love:

I Love You More Than Blank is a cute site filled with messages made by people telling their significant others just how much they care.

Or if you are like me and not really into all of this Valentines Day malarkey, bejeweled is pretty legit.

Oh hey tomorrow is Valentine's day. I would be mostly ambivalent towards this fact if it weren't for my mother calling me and asking why I don't have a man. Thanks mom, I love you too.

You know, I'm ok with the fact that there are people out there like who who get paid millions of dollars for bwing gorgeous. You are a goddess among mere mortals, we are not worthy of you presence, blah blah blah, I get it. And you know, I've even accepted that I am more than likely going to end up a miserable old shrew while your beauty will blind the eyes of men until you are 115 years old. But why, why did you have to take these pictures with the love of my life (aka Joseph Gordon-Levitt)? I mean just kick a girl while she's down why don't ya?

Play Me, I'm Yours

was the name of an art project on display in Sydney, Australia last month. British artist Luke Jerram put 30 pianos in different locations, saying that his goal was to “to challenge pre-conceived notions of city living and enhance our sense of community by providing free access to pianos all over the city”Even though I can't play piano, I think that this is such an awesome idea. I'm taking a class right now that addresses the problem of defining art. I myself cant say for sure what I think the definition of art is, and I don't really think anyone has the right to define art as a whole, but I think a project like this, which promotes creativity, sharing, and learning in a community sense is absolutely wonderful

The Spanish textbook I had to buy today was $168. I kid you not. When I was being rung up at the register I seriously considered throwing the book at the cashier. Unecessary maybe, but it sure would have been gratifying. At least for a moment.

I went into town today with the intention of just buying textbooks for my classes (which seem to pretty awesome for the most part), but my resolve was quickly worn down and I purchased a few cool items along the way:

D is for Delusional

I was browsing style.com today, the online home of Vogue Magazine, when I came across a section called "depression chic" containing series of looks from the spring 2009 runways. What exactly is depression chic, you ask? Well, those zany fashion slaves at Vogue didn't exactly say, but they described the portfolio with the following: "Silk fringe or faded sackcloth- these looks will get you through the economic downturn and beyond". Observe, if you will, their following suggestions:

Diane von Furstenburg dress: $1,600. Very practical. I mean just look at the color, it goes with everything! I have plenty of accessories that would compliment a pea soup green dress... oh wait no I don't.

Dress by Louis Vuitton: $6,002 -cuz, ya know, those two extra dollars are really important in the long run. Designers are people too! They have mouths to feed! (Speaking of mouths to feed, that model needs to EAT SOMETHING)

$935 gold necklace by Aurélie Bidermann. Wow those guys over at style.com are spot on with their depression chic fashion picks. I mean, there isn't even a comma in the price tag of this and it still looks great! How do they do it?

And finally, a stunning look by Burberry Prorsum. Jacket: $1,595. Necklace: $695. Dress (hold on to your hats): $3,595

Now don't get me wrong: I love Vogue Magazine and I enjoy poring over the breathlessly beautiful creations that sashay down the runways. I don't come away with the feeling that I must wear clothes that cost more than automobiles, but rather inspiration when I scour through the sales racks at the local mall. However, when Vogue tries to sympathize with "the little people" during a time of great economic uncertainty, the results, as you can see, are hilarious.

Freckle Specs

It's freckles!! On glassess!! Get it? Well, no, me neither but I still think they are darn cute. Kinda nerdy-chic no? The creepy thing is the freckles on the specs match the color of the freckles that cover 80% of my body (hey, it doesn't all see the sun! I am a lady after all) So I think if I wore these it would be a bit too much, but for those of you out there who rue the day you were born with spotless skin, these may be the specs for you!

My Bank Statement Makes Me Weep

Well it seems like I have caught the shopping bug. All I want to do is floor it to my nearest shopping mall (without paying any attention to pesky traffic law- psh who stops at red lights?) and buy ridiculous amounts of ridiculously beautiful clothes.

Back to reality. Even though new clothes would be so cute for back to school, not having enough money to buy my criminally expensive textbooks would pose a problem. So instead I shall search the web and pine over the things I want (actually going to a store would just be too painful). Hey, a girl can always dream right?

On the Road

This is one of my favorite quotes ever. You can find it in "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac, a book I'm reading right now. Sometimes I find myself (usually when I'm at school) looking out my window and wishing for the horizon. I guess its a good thing I don't have a car at school. Hopefully there will come a time in my life, maybe after I graduate, when I can just take to the road and meet these mad people Mr. Kerouac writes about. That would be grand.

I'm Baaaaack!

Besides getting up at some ungodly hour every morning, DC was fun. I toured lots of museums and federal buildings, but the most surprising thing I learned was that our nation's capital ain't a whole lot warmer than Boston, and by God I learned that the hard way. 

This is a picture I took of my sister in front of the capitol building. For some reason we felt the need to leap in the air in front of national monuments. Basically we three are a public nuisance.

OBAMAAA here I come!

Sorry, whenever I write the name of our president elect it has to be in caps. It just does. Anywho kids I'm leaving with my sisters to spend a couple of days with my aunt in DC (aka ze land of OBAMA). We're gonna see the sights and generally have a grand old time. Personally I cannot wait to go to the Natural History Museum. I know, I know, I'm a dork. Plus did you know that all the museums down there are free? Holllaaaa.
