Should Old Acquaintance Be Forgot...

Well this certainly was an interesting year, if I do say so myself, and i can't believe its over. Usually I don't do anything on New Years, I like to just stay in and watch the ball drop (I always think that sounds dirty) on TV, but of course the one time I go out to ring in the new year it has to be snowing like the dickens outside. I'm taking a train into Boston for First Night with some of my friends. Ice Sculptures, here I come!
I leave you today with this, a trailer (yes, another one) for a movie I love. I think you'll be able to tell why I chose today to post it:

Happy New Year!

Saturday, December 27

Meh.

So in these weird days of winter break it seems there is nothing to occupy my restless mind. The TV in my house only gets one channel (which is spotty at best) and anyone bearing my last name is banned from all video rental stores in the greater Boston area. What a shame. Without a job during break I dont have a lot of money to spend (college books aint cheap!), but there are so many movies in theaters right now that I want to see, which trust me, does not happen very often (cough, cough, COUGH). Here are a couple I really want to see:

Adeste Fideles

May your days be merry and bright.
Some songs you may like for this time of year are "All That I Want" by the Weepies and the Christmas Classic "O Holy Night". Don't judge me on that last one, just listen to the holiday magic. But this has to be one of my favorite Christmas songs of all time, especially that particular version. Anywho, I'm heading to my Aunt's house tonight to enjoy the holiday with my family. Our traditions include playing yankee swap and talking endlessly about politics. Ah family, you gotta love em. I hope you find yourself with those you love tonight, and may you have a happy holiday!

A Sailor's Valentine

Well I haven't blogged in a while so two posts in one day isn't overkill is it? Sure hope not. Anyway I love these photos taken by Gregory Krum

These photos are apart of a series titled "A sailor's valentine" which I think is adorable. I love how the boats seem a little run down and forlorn, like they are forgotten and well loved at the same time. The boats also look like the ones you see in the movie Chocolat, no? Fitting, because these pictures were actually taken in Paris.

Art+Music=Lurve

Hey! Sorry its been awhile, my blog has been acting up but it seems as though things are back to normal hooray! I'm now back home for the next month (woo?) and I have alot of shopping to do. ugh. Anyways, the folks over at wellmedicated put together a bitchin list of gig posters and I thought I would post some of my faves here:

woo I feel like I need to be on something when I look at this poster

This is What I Feel Like Doing Tonight

Alas, I'm only halfway done with finals, so this will have to wait (but hey, that means I've successfully completed two finals and a paper! woohoo!) No one out there who would want to write a physics paper, is there? No?

Procrastination is Key

I bet you thought that with 4 finals and 2 papers due this week I would not be posting much. Oh my dear fools, how little you know me. I spent all day today studying, and there is still not even the faintest hint of a light at the end of the tunnel. However, I feel that taking a short break at ten minutes to three in the morning is not outrageously irresponsible, but rather quite healthy actually. I will use this short respite to calm my frazzled mind by reading some of my favorite poems on the wonderful site poets.org, that always seems to do the trick. Gosh I sound so cultured. Or like a pretentious douchebag. One of the two.

Everyone Assume the Battle Positions

Can't put it off any longer. Finals Week has officially begun.

Oh Boy

So. Much. Work.
Stormy days ahead my friends. Forecast for the next week calls for fits of despair accompanied by feelings of hoplessness. I'm also seeing a slight chance of a complete mental breakdown.
But hey, I'm not in this alone. Misery loves company, and there are about 20,000 other kids on this campus preparing for the week ahead. Bring it on Finals, you wretched beasts. Hit me with your best shot (but please be gentle ok?).

I Hate Perfume

Ha no I really don't, its the ironic name of this website that sells scents with intriguing names like "In the Library" and my personal favorite, "I am a Dandelion". I have been wearing the same perfume (Ralph Lauren Blue) for years now and while I still love it, I think it may be time for a change. The perfume above caught my eye because of its description: "Eternal Return is the scent of sailing towards the shore. It is the blend of fresh ocean air, wooden ship, and a faint hint of Cypress trees growing on the cliff above the water." Reminds me of Cape Cod, my favorite place in the world. Ladies and gentlemen, I think we have a winner.

Paris, Je t'aime

Sooooo here's the thing: I love all things French: French art (Delacroix is pretty cool), French movies (soooo good), French men (ahem), and pretty much anything else you can think of. I remember listening to Edith Piaf when I was little, and a few months ago I saw the film "La Vie en Rose" and thought it was excellent. Marion Cotillard knows her stuff. I love this cute little animation someone made out of Piaf's song "À quoi ça sert l'amour" and thought I'd share it with you. enjoy.

Back To The Daily Grind

Well that weekend went by way too fast. I was up until 5:30 this morning frolicking around in the first snow of the winter! I cant wait until it snows enough to go sledding. I'm also really looking forward to skating on frog pond :) I just have to get through these next few weeks, and it aint gonna be pretty. During times of high stress like these, I like to watch little videos that make me smile, like this one.

Let The Wild Rumpus Start

I Heart T-Shirts

One of my favorite t-shirt websites, threadless.com, is having an awesome sale. I just cant say no to a bargain so i bought three shirts, including one with the design above. Cute no? But beware my friends, online shopping is a dangerous thing. I had to stop myself from buying the whole damn site. Another website that I like to look at is palmercash. There is one shirt in particular that I have had my eye on for a while:

Too bad I can't bring myself to spend $24(or more-I'm talking to you, Mr. Cupcakes) on a t-shirt. I won't do it. So instead I shall pine over this wonderful piece of clothing while crossing my fingers for a sale.

And We're Off...

Phew, today was a long one. Tomorrow's forecast aint too great either with a strong chance of having to attend all 4 of my classes and going to work. woopee. Oh well, things could be worse. I leave you tonight with a song that has been on heavy rotation on my itunes lately. The lead singer sounds just like Tracy Chapman, whom I lurve, but its actually a guy hehe.  There is no official music video on youtube, just this fanvid, but whatevaaa its still damn good. Oh yeah, its called "Helen" by Nizlopi. You're welcome.

How Original

Well I've decided to jump on the bandwagon and create my own blog. Mostly I'll be posting things I find on the web that interest me or basically anything that catches my fancy at that moment in time. I don't know how successful I'll be at this, I never could keep a diary for crying out loud, even though I so wanted to be one of those "Dear America" girls (dont judge, you know you read those books and loved them). Lets just take this one day at a time shall we?
