Cafe and Cabaret

Next month the MFA will be holding an exhibition of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's work titled "Cafe and Cabaret". The museum's website says that the artist "is known for his bold images of performers in the centers of Parisian entertainment in the 1880s and 1890s: the café-concerts and cabaret nightclubs in the bohemian neighborhood of Montmartre." All of the images depict Paris through Toulouse's eyes. A Thanksgiving art museum field-trip anyone?

Image of the Day: 10/22/09

(Just for future reference, all of my "Image of the day" posts are from ffffound unless otherwise noted)

So Purdy

Why? Whyyyyy must I be broke? I wanna buy all of these and feel purdy and feminine instead of what I usually feel, a brokedown version of a girl. But I mean lets be honest, I dont think I have the cajones to wear butterflies on my head. Maybe someday.

This-a-Way or That-a-Way?

I wish my life was like this.

You Make My Heart Sing

As some of you may know, Where The Wild Things Are is coming out tonight and I am flippin excited. In order to commemorate this auspicous occasion, Mr. Solomon over at Kitsune Noir made a Wild Things-themes mixcast. Its like a convergance of all my favorite things. I'm pretty happy right now. Happy Weekend!

The Dream Keeper by Langston Hughes
Bring me all of your dreams,
You dreamer,
Bring me all your
Heart melodies
That I may wrap them
In a blue cloud-cloth
Away from the too-rough fingers
Of the world.

T-Shirt Site of the Week(ha): The Oh Snap Project

A simple yet great idea: photographer using t-shirts to display their work. Oh Snap.

Mr. Bear, I Agree

As some of you may know, I avoid going home to Boston like the plague. Upside: I get to see the mama and mah seesters. Downside: THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO (desides wallow in my lost childhood). Meh. Oh well, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, and this girl needs her winter jackets. Lets hope for a Sunday return.

Life is Unfair

This week is not going according to plan. I can deal with all of the papers and assignments, but why did my headphones have to die? WHY? Instead of walking to class guided by the voice of Iron & Wine or The Rolling Stones, I now only have my thoughts to keep me company. Um, No. That is not ok.
(p.s. yes i know i can just go out and a buy a new pair, and yes two years is a perfectly acceptable lifespan for heavily used earbuds, but I much rather enjoy being morose thank you very much. Plus someone knocked over and damaged my mums yesterday and that has since put me on the negative nancey track. Those mum-hating bastards.) (image via we heart it)

Erm What Problem?

I picked up this book yesterday, and the back reads as follows:
"One of Robbins most popular novels, this is a sort of love story that takes place inside a pack of Camel cigarettes. It reveals the purpose of the moon, explains the difference between criminals and outlaws, and paints a portrait of contemporary society that includes powerful Arabs, exiled royalty, and pregnant cheerleaders. It also deals with the problem of redheads. "
