Hip Hooray!

I have done it! I have survived this week! I didn't do everything I set out to accomplish (mehhh...), but hey there is always next week. Hopefully this time I learned my lesson. Probably not. Happy Weekend dolls! Let us revel in our youth.

Something I Missed

Walt Whitman, The Felice Brothers, and The Iron Horse. Three of my favorite things. I remember wanting to go to this show but no one would go with me because it was the first Friday back at school. Oh man how I wish I went to that show. If you want to do something, just go ahead and do it.

I Am a Big Fat Liar

So after I had watched 3 lectures my brain needed a little rest. What do I do when I need a break? Watch movie trailers of course! I spied this one and decided I would share it with you. I pretty much wish I was Zooey Deschanel. Paul Dano is also lovely, although he creeped the hell out of me in "There Will Be Blood". And oh yeah, even though this movie looks really good, I still CANNOT WAIT for 500 Days of Summer.

Damn It

Well me hearties I've gone and done what I always do: put off all of my work until the absolute last minute.  I should be spending every possible moment this week watching lectures, so I probably won't be posting much (we'll see how that goes). Or if I do post, it probably won't make much sense since I won't be able to see what I'm typing through all of the tears.

Weekend Update

My a cappella group won quarterfinals yesterday. That's right Harvard, you can go suck it.

Whoa

That's all I could say after watching this little film by Christopher Hewitt.

Yulia Brodskaya

I am in love with these papergraphics that she makes (I've used one for this blog before...). They kinda look like pasta art you make in kindergarden, no? (I mean that in the best possible way).

She also does some awesome illustrations, as like the one above located on her website. Aren't those dandelions divine?
(Like what you see? There's a whole lot more where these came from. click heeeeerrrrreee)

Winter's Chill

Now winter nights enlarge
This number of their hours
And clouds their storms discharge
Upon the airy towers
Let now the chimneys blaze
And cups o'erflow with wine
Let well-tuned words amaze
With harmony divine...

Somedays I feel like spring is creeping in. Others I feel like it will never come.

Sometimes

I think I work too much. Then again I'm not really sure what else I would do with my time.
I need an adventure.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

Boy I forgot how much I love these guys. I wanted to post "Skin of my Yellow Country Teeth" but of course youtube does not have any adequate videos (I like live music, just not crappy videos of live music).

Be A Star

The dude over at Kitsune Noir (one of my favorite blogs) periodically makes mixtapes, and I am in love with the cover of his latest one. The photo is awesome and the title carries a lovely sense of yearning. I like it when things have a sense of yearning.
(The actual music on the tape aint bad either)

For Moi?

My best friend made this for me. Oh Andrew, I love yee.

Be Mine

Well dolls, today is Valentines day, and in the spirit of this hallowed occasion, I shall share with you some sites on the web that are all about the love:

I Love You More Than Blank is a cute site filled with messages made by people telling their significant others just how much they care.

The Ones We Love. A group of photographers taking pictures of those they hold most dear.

Le Love. A blog made up of images of love.

Kiss Me Daily. A new picture everyday of loverly kisses.

Or if you are like me and not really into all of this Valentines Day malarkey, bejeweled is pretty legit.

It's Only Love

Oh hey tomorrow is Valentine's day. I would be mostly ambivalent towards this fact if it weren't for my mother calling me and asking why I don't have a man. Thanks mom, I love you too.
(p.s. the song is "First Love" by the Maccabees and this aint even the official video-it was made by some dude on youtube. how firggan awesome is that??)

Damn you Claudia!

You know, I'm ok with the fact that there are people out there like who who get paid millions of dollars for bwing gorgeous. You are a goddess among mere mortals, we are not worthy of you presence, blah blah blah, I get it. And you know, I've even accepted that I am more than likely going to end up a miserable old shrew while your beauty will blind the eyes of men until you are 115 years old. But why, why did you have to take these pictures with the love of my life (aka Joseph Gordon-Levitt)? I mean just kick a girl while she's down why don't ya?

floosie.

God damn. Is it getting hot in here or is it just me?

Edward Steichen

The International Center of Photography, located in New York City, is hosting a new exhibition called "Edward Steichen: In High Fashion, the Conde Nast Years, 1923-1937". A sample of Steichen's work:

Don't you just love that old-time glamour?

Fifty People, One Question

Fifty People, One Question: London from Fifty People, One Question on Vimeo.

This video is a tad sappy for my taste, and yet it warms my cold, cold heart. I really like the question posed in this video, I could answer it in a second.

Giving is Better Than Receiving

I donated blood today on a whim. I'm feeling pretty good about it.

Wake Up

This weekend kind of sucked. Watching videos like this helps.

Hallelujah

Artist Maira Kalman made the trip down to Washington for Obama's inauguration (lucky devil) and along the way she documented the journey:

How awesome is that? You can find the rest of them here.

Play Me, I'm Yours

was the name of an art project on display in Sydney, Australia last month. British artist Luke Jerram put 30 pianos in different locations, saying that his goal was to “to challenge pre-conceived notions of city living and enhance our sense of community by providing free access to pianos all over the city”Even though I can't play piano, I think that this is such an awesome idea. I'm taking a class right now that addresses the problem of defining art. I myself cant say for sure what I think the definition of art is, and I don't really think anyone has the right to define art as a whole, but I think a project like this, which promotes creativity, sharing, and learning in a community sense is absolutely wonderful

Dude.

I'm struggling, and all I wanna do is get back on track. I did it last year, let's see if I can do it again

Feel the Anger Subside

Music always helps.

No Señor

The Spanish textbook I had to buy today was $168. I kid you not. When I was being rung up at the register I seriously considered throwing the book at the cashier. Unecessary maybe, but it sure would have been gratifying. At least for a moment.
